 My name's Katie
Mayne, mum to Lucy and Harry and the founder of
TinyTalk Baby Signing Classes.
 Winner- 'Highly Commended Special Award'
Top Finalist-Inspirational Business Mum of the Year 2007
I received this award last year and I'm still thrilled by it! The competition was organised by Prowess (the UK association of organisations and individuals who support women to start and grow businesses) and sponsored by Yellow Pages (which also strongly supports business mums through their website www.bizmums.co.uk).
I am delighted that I won this award as I feel that TinyTalk really does support other mums- through both our Classes and our Teaching Opportunity.
TinyTalk Classes help families understand and experience the amazing benefits of baby signing. We teach families how to develop their babies' early speech, language and literacy skills. Our half an hour social and support time in each class is also very important! Please read our 'what clients say' to see some lovely comments from happy families!
I also know that our Teaching Opportunity allows mums to run their own successful businesses, as part of a very strong team whilst, most importantly, very much being there for their children too. Anyway, how did TinyTalk baby signing classes actually start?
I set up TinyTalk baby signing after I taught
my son Harry to baby sign when he was just 7 months old. It
worked like magic -
he was signing to me when
he wanted to play or read a book, when he was hungry, and
even when he wanted to go to sleep.
 As I had been already fully certified in sign language
(I'm a Primary School Teacher as well as a Teacher of the
Deaf)
- I made up my mind to start baby signing classes for other
parents around my area. And so TinyTalk baby signing classes
were born!
