Welcome to the TinyTalk classes of
Rosie Plant

I first came across baby signing while working in nurseries, as fate would have it, a wonderful Tiny Talk teacher provided us with training in using sign in early years. I was amazed by how much a few simple signs reduced the frustration of our little learners and helped them feel as if they had a voice to express their own wants and needs! Fast forward quite a few years and I was working as a setting SENCO, trying to
support a nonverbal child with huge frustration over not being able to make himself understood when I had the brainwave to reconnect with the Tiny Talk trainer, she once again trained my staff in baby sign language and it was used much to the delight of all the parents and children of our setting. After leaving there, I went on to work privately as a Special Educational Needs teacher for a nonverbal child. He, to date is signing over 300 words and Sign Supported English is his primary form of communication. While this is an unusual case, I cannot put into words what a joy it has been helping him to develop a method of self expression and if we can give that to all babies right from the start just imagine what confident, self advocating, amazing children and adults they could grow to be. Signing is a fun and easy form of communication and expression and Tiny Talk teaches it with all the right methods to appeal to children right from the start of their communication journey. While my time teaching sign to just one child may be wrapping up, I am so excited to be able to share it with more local families and help you to support your children in sharing their wants, needs and funny thoughts more easily.
