Love love love tiny talk!!! Have taken both my boys (ruairidh now 4 and loves signing and now Murray 8 months) Its amazing to bridge the communication gap and ease frustration allowing your baby to communicate with you before they can talk and amazing to see how chuffed they get when they are signing to you and know you understand them!! The classes are great for little ones and parents!!! Always good fun and a laugh with the odd adult jokes thrown in for our sanity!!! Could not recommend the classes more!!!
We have been going to Gayna's class for a few months now and I have to say it is fantastic! As a Childcare lecturer and former childcare practitioner, I am very impressed at how baby signing can promote communication between mum and baby and early language skills. Hollie is able to do a few signs already which have really helped ease her frustration. The classes are also great fun, Gayna is such a fantastic person, she puts you at ease and you get a wee cuppy and blether with other mums at the end. Just a fantastic class all round! I would highly recommend it!
It's nerve wracking, isn't it, going out to a new group (on time?!), to be with people you don't know, hoping your baby will "be good". DO NOT WORRY!!! Tiny Talk classes are a fantastic way to relax and have fun with your baby or child, explore signs and songs, feeling like you really communicate with your baby. Felix and I have been going for 4 months, and we've both made friends and love our sign time together, and then showing the family at home what we've learned! Why do we love Gayna and her brilliant classes? Because the babies and toddlers do. They are our guide and their delight and confidence is clear for everyone to see. Gayna is genuine, warm, funny and so very welcoming. Classes have different themes, for example the park, numbers, family, weather or seasonal specials. There's time for the babies to play with toys and musical instruments, and the mums or caregivers to chat and have a cuppa with biccies. If there is one class or activity you do with your wee one, make it this one. What a great Christmas present for someone, or a new activity to look forward to in the New Year. Maybe we'll see you at class!
Gayna's Tiny Talk classes have been so valuable to both my daughter and I that I hardly know where to begin explaining how in a review. I first heard about the classes 3 years ago when my son was a baby and thought they would be a good, fun activity for us but I didn't have the transport means to get to them. Then a few months ago, it was suggested by my daughter Claudia's Speech Therapist that she should learn some sign language because her speech is 'delayed'. I immediately thought of Tiny Talk and was overjoyed to be able to bring Claudia to classes locally. We started when Claudia was 15 months old. Firstly, we both have loved every minute of each class - they are so energetic and fun, it is the highlight of our time together each week. I feel that not only are we learning signs and chatting to others but that I'm also getting valuable quality time with my girl. We have been going for 2 terms now and despite only being able to attend about 8 sessions Claudia has learnt over 25 signs! I think that this is not only an incredible achievement by her, but also a powerful testimony to the effectiveness of the classes, and particularly Gayna's teaching of them. The biggest benefit for me has been how enormously this has developed the bond between me and Claudia. I found it hard to bond with her when she was a baby, but this has brought us so close together and is a real gift that I will always be extremely grateful for. For Claudia, she is now empowered to demand what she wants (her most frequent signs are 'Daddy' and 'cake') and she definitely enjoys the praise when she has learnt a new sign. At 19 months old now she is a toddler who despite having no verbal words isn't frustrated - because she is able to communicate her needs effectively and specifically. It has also demonstrated to our family and friends that whilst Claudia doesn't speak words yet, we clearly have one very intelligent little girl on our hands. It can be frustrating when delayed speech can be seen as a sign of learning difficulties - signing has given Claudia the opportunity to answer that query with gusto. Before starting the class I was slightly apprehensive (I'm sharing this for any mums who might feel like I did), I was worried that learning to sign would somehow slow down Claudia's vocal development, in fact quite the opposite has happened, she is more vocal than ever. Signing is clearly encouraging her language acquisition in many ways. Furthermore, as a direct result of how well Claudia has done at learning signs she is now going to get much more personal support from the local Speech Therapists. This is wonderful news for Claudia as we look towards her starting Nursery in 18 months time and would not have been possible if we hadn't been going to Tiny Talk classes. I can't review these classes without mentioning what an outstanding teacher Gayna is. In my professional career I have previously been required to assess primary teachers, so I know exceptional teaching when I see it. Gayna's bubbly personality shines through as does her love of her job. She also succeeds in making each child and parent/career feel that she is genuinely pleased to see them there each and every class. She is encouraging and supportive, knowledgable about her field and excells at celebrating each child's achievements, big and small. Her unending enthusiasm throughout the class is infectious and we never fail to go home without huge smiles on our faces and new signs to practise, having enjoyed another wonderful session of Tiny Talk.
I began attending Sarah’s class in Arbroath when my daughter was 5 weeks old. We were made to feel so welcomed and relaxed. At first I worried I wouldn’t pick up the signs however each lesson is full of catchy songs and lots of laughs which makes it easy to remember! We both really look forward to Tiny Talk every week and would highly recommend to any mums considering coming along!
We have been attending Briana’s Bervie class since Feb 2017 when Callen was around 5 months old. I was dubious at first at how a tiny baby could communicate at such a young age, but I was amazed when Callen signed milk at only 7 months old. I am now the BIGGEST baby sign language convert and recommend TinyTalk to everyone. Callen got his 50th signing certificate in February 2018 and we are fast approaching his 75th already! I really believe that TinyTalk has helped to improve Callen’s early language development as he has a vast understanding of both signs and oral language. He is quickly becoming a chatterbox! We started off in the baby class and now attend toddlers. Each lesson is fun, well planned and full of catchy songs. There are lots of different activities to keep the children focused and Briana really makes it easy for us all to pick up the signs. (Except from when she makes us do “One man went to mow the meadow”, that one is torture!). We have also made some new friends and we both really enjoy the play/cuppy time at the end of the class. Both Mummy and Callen love coming home to “teach” Daddy some new signs and songs each week and look forward to the next class.
TinyTalk allows us to interact and communicate with our baby, and the joy we get when he signs in context is just fantastic. Gayna is a delight to be taught by; funny, enthusiastic, patient and the kids adore her. Educational and fun, its the highlight of our busy baby schedule!
We have been attending TinyTalk for nearly two years with my daughter and it is by far one of the best classes out there. We were a bit late to the signing party but my little girl took to the toddler classes brilliantly. Briana’s classes are amazing and very welcoming as I was new to the area and didn’t know anyone, I was Billy nae mates!! I suffered from post natal depression so finding a class was difficult and Briana couldn’t have been more amazing I have made some great friends going to this class and so has my little girl! Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a children’s class - plus you get a hot cuppy! Bonus!
My daughter and I have been going to TinyTalk for 3 months now and we love it. Poppy, my daughter does the occasional sign for milk etc but mostly I love that it is clear she understands what I'm saying to her - particularly if it involves food! She also loves to join in with the nursery rhymes at home - incy wincy spider is currently her fave. As Poppy has down syndrome we have to attend a lot of health appointments and assessments. TinyTalk allows us both to just have some fun and be one of the girls for a little while each week whilst at the same time knowing she's learning every session. Poppy had to undergo open heart surgery at 5 months so we couldn't attend any classes before that to minimise the infection risk. Although I'd never met Gayna she came to our house and spent time with our family teaching us some basic signs to get started with until Poppy was well enough to attend the group. That session allowed us to start signing with Poppy and gave us an element of normality. I was very touched that Gayna gave her time for free to support us at what was obviously a tough time. Gayna obviously loves her job with TinyTalk and her enjoyment is infectious ensuring each week is fun - and just a little bit mad!
We look forward to Thursday as its TinyTalk day. The class is so relaxed and friendly unlike other classes I've attended, that I don't mind the 30 mile round trip. I love that its such a mix mums, dads, grans etc. Gayna clearly loves what she's doing and it shows. She holds the babies attention for the whole class which is no easy feat and her enthusiasm is contagious, everyone joins in. At 6months my daughter can do 2 signs which is great and I can't wait to see what's coming next. For anyone thinking about coming I couldn't recommend it enough!
Myself and Alana love TinyTalk. Its a great way for babies to communicate while they find their voice. I have found we've gained a lot as a family. My older 2 children who are 9 and 6 love it as well. As soon as they're home from school they want to learn the new signs we learnt that day. They love singing the songs and signing with Alana. Its just brilliant. I would highly reccommend a TinyTalk party as well. Its hard to amuse a group of 1 to 3 year olds but Gayna did it very well. All the kids had a blast. Gayna is fabulous and does a tremendous job you can tell by the way all the little ones react as soon as they see here.
TinyTalk is definitely our favourite baby class. I'm always amazed at Gayna's enthusiasm and boundless energy and because of this she can hold the attention of a room full of babies (no mean feat). I love to watch not only my baby but the reaction of the other babies as they are totally captivated. Alex knows the sign for milk as he opens his mouth wide, so I'm sure it won't be too long till he signs it. Can't wait to get my hands on the coveted 1st sign certificate lol!!!
I can’t recommend TinyTalk enough! What a fantastic class/group. It was one of the few classes I went to where I felt completely comfortable with having both girls on my own, baby and toddler, as siblings are welcome! Sarah who ran our group is amazing and my oldest would go and sit with her as a helper rather than with me & her sister. The signing is fantastic but I also love that the class is half for learning but then the second half hour is used for the kids to play while the parents get a cuppy and chat! Genuinely the friendliest group I’ve attended. Amazing for mums who might be a bit nervous about going to new groups. I’ve sadly returned to work but should my circumstances change in the future I will certainly be back! Well done TinyTalk ladies! What a fantastic job you do!xx
Logan and I attend Gayna's Montrose class. We've recently moved to the area and it's a great way to meet people in the relaxed and fun atmosphere. Gayna is fantastic, she's very bubbly and enthusiastic and the lessons are easily learnt, and mostly in the form of song and a little dance. The reward for being a bit silly for the pleasure of our babies is tea/coffee and biscuits. I'd definitely recommend it to any parents and there is currently an offer to get the first lesson for free.
My daughter Thea and I have been attending Briana's Stonehaven baby class for the past 6 months and we absolutely love it. It's definitely a highlight of our week! The class is a great mix of songs, learning signs and also just getting the time to have a cup of tea and a blether with other mums and dads while the kiddos are occupied with a fantastic array of toys. Briana is a natural with kids, Thea absolutely loves her and I am often left sitting doing the signs and songs with one of the teddies as Thea wants to sit in Briana's lap all the time! I also like the fact that I have to use my brain a bit and that I am learning some of the basics of sign language. When Thea reached the 12 month mark she suddenly started to pick up a lot more signs, and its great fun to see her repertoire grow, and overall it means we are communicating more and more each day. I can't recommend this class highly enough. It's the only one we have kept going with since my return to work part time :) x
I cannot recommend this enough! My daughter attended her first class at 19 months old in Laurencekirk with the wonderful Gayna. Within around 3 months she is up to an incredible 75 signs. I was under the impression that if she did not attend the baby class she may find it hard to pick up. Quite the opposite. She is so in love with Gayna and her weekly classes that she has picked signing up quicker than I could have ever imagined. Sometimes she comes home remembering more than I have... It is the best thing i have signed us up to. The ladies are just wonderful and I cannot imagine our weeks without it! My fiance works offshore so was very keen to take part in anything he could when he is home and he absolutely loves taking Lucy along. Such an inviting class that Lucy has also attended with her Granny and Auntie and everyone has enjoyed seeing Lucy communicate so fluently . I could go on forever but i will end with THANK YOU SO MUCH ! You have opened up a whole new chapter in Lucys development that I never realised would be so special to me.
I have been taking my daughter, Hannah, to Tiny Talk since she was 4 months old, and we both benefitted hugely on many levels. I loved going because it was so social. I met lots of Mum's, with whom I could share stories and experiences with, which built by confidence as a new Mum. I also got a cup of tea and biscuit which was an added treat! Hannah loved the friendly and upbeat atmosphere. She learnt signs quite quickly which was a thrill to watch. Communication between us became easier which I strongly believe helped her to avoid becoming a frustrated baby and therefore limited tantrums. Hannah is about to turn two years old and her speech is quite advanced which I feel is thanks to skills we both learnt at Gayna's Tiny Talk classes. I can't wait to take baby No. 2 to classes as soon!
Both my children absolutely loved Gayna's TinyTalk classes. My son was 2 when we moved to the area, and although he hadn't been to any signing classes previously, he loved the TinyTalk toddler class and quickly picked up signing. He really enjoyed how active and fun the class was, and as a mum who was new to the area it was great way to meet other mums. My daughter started Gayna's class at 6 months old and I found it incredible how she was able to communicate with us so early on - I'll never forget the first time she signed (milk) and the joy I felt at being able to really communicate through signing before she was able to speak. My son was then able to sign with her and particularly enjoyed teaching her his made up signs! It was lovely seeing them communicate through signing. We miss Gayna's class, she is so enthusiastic and both my kids adore her. I highly recommend both the baby and toddler classes.
I started attending Tiny Talk classes in Montrose when my son Morris was approx 5 months old. I had read of the benefits of babies learning sign lanuage and was keen to go along, I was perhaps a little sceptical at first! The Tiny Talk classes run by Gayna are fantastic. Not only is the class fun (for both babies and mums!) but the fact your little one can learn to communicate with you long before they can speak is amazing. Morris is a little over a year old now and can't say many words except mum and dad really, yet he's been able to tell me when he wants his milk since he was 61/2 months old through signing. He is also able to tell me when he wants food and when he wants his bath, he also understands a lot of signs I do to him. The benfits of attending a class make it well worthwhile, imagine your baby is unwell, they may be able to tell you this, long before they are able to say the words. I totally recommend going along to one of Gaynas classes and seeing for yourself. The atmosphere is so friendly and welcoming, its a chance to have fun with your baby and also talk to other mums about baby and non baby things. You could not want for a better teacher than Gayna, shes full of beans, so very friendly and makes learning easy and fun.
