Hi, I'm Sarah - TinyTalk teacher for Harborne, Quinton and Bearwood. I'm so happy to be teaching classes in my local area to share what I learned (and am still learning!) with my own son.
I have been an Early Childhood Music teacher since 2017 and have been teaching violin and music to children from around age 3 since 2011. I am currently studying a course in Early Childhood Music
Hi, I'm Sarah - TinyTalk teacher for Harborne, Quinton and Bearwood. I'm so happy to be teaching classes in my local area to share what I learned (and am still learning!) with my own son.

at the Centre for Research in Early Childhood (CREC) in Birmingham.
I attended my first TinyTalk class when my son, Alfie, was just 7 weeks old.
I knew in the beginning the classes were more for me than for Alfie, which he confirmed by sleeping through most of them! It gave me a chance to become confident with the signs and to be able to start using them at home, so that by the time he was 6 months old I was using them regularly with him.
Just over a year later he was happily using over 50 signs himself! I honestly believe that his ability to communicate his needs so early has contributed to him being such a chilled out and happy boy. I'm sure we've avoided many upsets and misunderstandings because of our TinyTalk classes!
He's so chatty now and sings all the time, so it definitely hasn't stopped him from talking either...
TinyTalk classes have also given me time to chat and socialise with other parents and carers, and to confirm that all those newborn things are normal, and to see the development of the slightly older babies and anticipate what was coming next!
TinyTalk is so much more than just a baby signing class, and it really made me feel part of a community.
Not to mention the hot cups of tea!

Qualifications:British Sign Language Level 1, Suzuki Early Childhood Education teacher, History of Art BA(Hons)
Favourite Film:All the Christmas films! The cheesier the better
Pet Hate:Cars parking on the pavement...
Secret Passion:not so secret..! I love looking for mushrooms, like a treasure hunt!
I love baby signing because:It really demonstrates what babies are capable of. To be able to nurture their communication skills through signing before they have the ability to speak is so special.
