Welcome to my TinyTalk gallery!
My first thoughts were 'yeah right babies can't learn signs' - moving on 2.5 years and Callie now not only learns signs weekly from the classes to teach me, but also has racked up over 200 signs before the age of 3. I can't thank Sarah enough, the classes are engaging, fun and have useful topics per class, it certainly made my life a lot easier in the first 18 months of having a child that couldn't talk - yet could sign to me when she was hungry, if she wanted more, milk, mummy or daddy and pretty much all the basics of life I wouldn't have been able to understand at the time before speech. For anyone like me very sceptical about the whole thing, just attend a class, it has a personal atmosphere, everyone is enthusiastic and welcoming and it is most of all rewarding - plus you get coffee and a biscuit!
I started taking my 8 week old to tiny talk as I think signing is so good for children, my eldest daughter (4) can sign & we really enjoy being social & attending classes. Sarah keeps the kids engaged & makes the class very welcoming, even supplying vegan biscuits so we don't miss out lol! she did the milk sign at 5 months now at 9 months she waves and the up sign. she can also understand food, done & clean! would recommend anyone do these classes so you can communicate with your children, plus it's a great skill to have as an adult too!
Tinytalk is an amazing part of my daughter's life and routine. We've been going to weekly classes since she was 4 months old and she's now 15 months and has 50 signs which she uses to communicate her understanding, her needs and her thoughts. I can't imagine her not signing now! It's amazing knowing some of what's going on in her brain. My husband and extended family were a little sceptical about whether a baby could learn sign language so young but now they've seen it for themselves, they're fascinated! Sarah's classes are brilliant and one of the highlights of our week. There's such a welcoming and personal atmosphere which I haven't seen in other baby/toddler groups I've attended. Sarah knows each family so well and it makes such a difference! Sarah's kindness, enthusiasm and encouraging nature was just what I needed as a nervous new mum trying to get out of the house in the early days and my daughter looks forward to seeing her every week. Her expertise in sign language is clear in every class, each with it's own theme. Sarah presents new signs in a really accessible and fun way, through songs, movement and the use of toys and props to engage the children. Having a social time at the end of each class is ideal and makes it much easier to connect with other parents/carers (and enjoy the free drinks and biscuits!) and gives my daughter chance to interact with other little ones, both older and younger than her, practising sharing and socialising. I'm so glad we signed up all those months ago and can't wait to see how my daughter continues to use signing as she grows and develops. I can't recommend it enough!
Tiny Talk is my favourite baby class, and I've done quite a few! Sarah is so lovely, she makes each session fun and easy. The sessions enable the parent to learn a skill that can then be passed to your little ones, and it's so amazing to see the little ones signing in class. Both Sarah and the other mums/carers are very welcoming...Some classes can be quite clique-y, but this class is very inclusive. I love that I am helping teach my son a life skill. The signs taught are BSL signs, and not makaton or any other sign language, so is a usable skill going forward. Also love the stay and play, biscuit and a cuppa at the end. Highly recommend.
We’ve been coming to Tiny Talk for just over a year now. I find the signs my son learns in the class super useful in communicating with him and it’s great to learn something new as a parent too! He always really enjoys the class and Sarah is really lovely with all the babies. Would recommend to anyone looking for a baby group to attend.
